Arsenal reached the final of the FA Cup on Saturday after beating holders Wigan Athletic. The semi-final match-up was Arsenal's twenty-seventh appearance at that level of the competition, which equalled Manchester United's achievement.By qualifying for their eighteenth final, Arsenal have matched another Manchester United record. God Willing, the Gunners shall yet again equal another Manchester United record of most F.A. Cup wins (eleven) by winning the Cup on May 17, 2014!

May 17, 2014:
Arsenal put up an amazing display of resilience and never-say-die when they overcame two early goals from Hull City conceded in the first nine minutes of the FA Cup Final. A superb strike from Santi Cazorla reduced the margin in the seventeenth minute and thereafter, continous forays into the Hull half finally paid off in the second half when Laurent Koscielny leveled the tie. The final went to extra-time and it was Giroud's clever back heel pass that set up Aaron Ramsay's winner in the second half of extra time that gave Arsenal the trophy back after a drought of nine years. The Gunners have now equalled Manchester United's eleven FA Cup titles. Well done Arsenal FC and congratulations to Gooners around the world.

August 10, 2014:
Arsenal swept aside league champions Manchester City 3-0 to lift the Community Shield for the thirteenth time. Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsay and Olivier Giroud scored the goals that gave Arsenal another piece of silverware.

May 30, 2015:
Arsenal made light work of Aston Villa in the FA Cup Final, winning 4-0, four different goal-scorers --- Walcott, Sanchez, Mertesacker and Giroud. This was the Gunners' twelfth FA Cup trophy, establishing a new league record..

August 02, 2015:
Arsenal overcame league champions Chelsea 1-0 to lift the Community Shield for the fourteenth time with a goal from Oxlade-Chamberlain.

May 27, 2017:
An under-strength back four put up a great display to ward off league champions Chelsea and deny them a league and cup double. The midfield and attack combined well to dominate the match to earn the Gunners a record thirteenth FA Cup trophy 2-1, with goals from Sanchez and Ramsey.

August 06, 2017:
In a repeat of the Community Shield fixture two years earlier, Arsenal overcame league champions Chelsea on penalties to lift for the award for the fifteenth time, second only to Manchester United in the number of trophies won.

September 18, 2022:
Gunner Ethan Nwaneri, only 15 years and 181 days old, becomes the youngest Premier League player ever.

May 19, 2024: Season ends with title decided on on last day, Manchester City finish ahead of the Gunners by just two points.

August 17, 2024: Season 2024-25 kicks off for the Gunners with a comfortable and confident 2-0 win over Wolves at the Emirates Stadium, after goals from Havertz and Saka. Tough games ahead though with a trip to Villa Park coming Saturday. COYG !!!!!!

August 24, 2024: Take that Villa !!! We have a bit of revenge today following a 2-0 win over Aston Villa. Payback for the two losses last season that cost us the tile. Trossard was on target again, with his first touch of the ball, Partey finishing the job with a thunderbolt. The Seagulls next. Vamos Arsenal ......

August 31, 2024: Brighton held us to a 1-1 draw after Declan Rice was sent off. A setback for the Gunners. early in the season even though there is a lot of time to catch up ......

September 15, 2024: Another memorable win at Tottenham, this time with a slightly under-strength team due to the suspension of Declan Rice and injuries sustiained by Odegard and Merino. Great job Gunners !!!!

September 19, 2024: We kick off our Champions League with a stalemate at Atalanta. It will be a busy European campaign with a moderately good result to start off., even tough a win would have been better.

September 22, 2024: Gunners should have beaten Manchester City but going down to ten men just before half-time meant that it would have to be uphill trying to hold on to the lead. An equaliser for City came barely a few seconds before the final whistle for a 2-2 draw in a game we could have won but for Trossard's dismissal just before half-time.

September 25, 2024: A routine 5-1 win over Bolton in the Carabao Cup has seen us through to the next round for a fixture with Preston North End at the historic Deepdale up north-west.

September 28, 2024: An exciting 4-2 home over Leicester City after we quickly went up 2-0., only for the wily Foxes to draw leve. Its Champions League next, with PSG coming to London.

October 01, 2024: Gunners move past the French champions with a confident 2-0 win after goals by Havertz and Saka! The Champions League campaign is on the right track ....

October 05, 2024: A convincing 3-1 win over the Saints, after going down a goal in the second half. Havertz, Martinelli and Saka were on the mark as the Gunners came back to win.

October 19, 2024: A bad outing down south as Bournemouth made good use of their numerical superiority after William Saliba was sent off. It is a huge setback for the Gunners as we fall further behind Liverpool and Manchester City. Champions League up next! Let's go Gunners ........

October 22, 2024: With key players sidelined due to injuries. Gunners did not have the firepower for a convincing display at home agaiinst Shahkhtar Donetsk and had to settle for a 1-0 win, after Tossard missed a penalty. Livepool next, pwithout justification after all that happened ealier. erhaps the biggest fixture of the season so far. COYG !!!!!!!

October 27, 2024:A match-up against Liverpool is never easy for anyone. Having said that, premier League referees are terribly inconsistent, if not grossly inefficient. We've had two players sent off this season for kicking the ball, albeit innocently in both cases, and yet the dead ball is consistently kicked away against us and referees let it ride. Van dJjk's assault on Havertz was a professional foul --- three times in the same action. Not even a yellow card. Scandalous. With Saliba banned and Gabriel off due to injury early in the second half, we were severely handicapped in central defence. The great Salah was kept under check down on the left and Diaz was fended well off by Partey. There were so many fouls against not given. A last minute goal chalked out! What can one say, other than job done by Liverpool to level it off at 2-2 after our defence was decapitated from get-go ..............

October 30,2024: Arteta rested key players in the trip to Preston North End for a Carabao Cup tie, a competition which Arsenal have historically used to try out youngsters. It turned out to be a routine win for the Gunners, as Jesus, Nwaneri and Havertz scored for a 3-0 win at Deepdale. It was a good night for Kiwior, who provided two assists.

November 02,2024: An uninspiring performance at the St. James's, going down to the single goal early in the first half. Perhaps the Magpies' defence worked overtime, but we are missing the creativity of Odegard and his link-ups with Saka and White. The loss at Bournemouth, draw against Liverpool and loss at Newcastle will not necessarily mean we are too far behind. On a good day in the Premier League, any team can beat any other team. Champions League and a trip to Chelsea next. COYG ......

November 06,2024: A controversial penalty once again deep into first-half added time gave Inter Milan a win at the San Siro. The Gunners had all of the second half to equalise but the Italians's resilient defence kept us out. A slight setback, but it is a long campaign in Europe. We missed Declan Rice durr to injury but the good news is that Odegard is fit again. Buck up Arsenal .....

November 10, 2024: Last game before a frivolous international break. The Nations' League, the international event comparable to the Carabao Cup that must be scratched, is taking its toll on the teams especially because of the expanded Champions League.Star players are at peril. They are sitting ducks for oppositing players to foul and bring down. Saka is perhaps the most fouled player anywhere.

A local derby against Chelsea where we had done well in recent seasons. A word of caution here for fans. The commentators are always ga-ga about white English players. Over-hype them. Palmer did not perform anywhere near as the genius the commentators make him out to be. I recall an England match where our Wrighty scored a great goal before Scholes also got on the score-sheet. Every white Englishman forgot Wrighty's goal that had set the pace for the match.

A few more matches for Odegard to regain his sharpness and give an edge to the frontline but it was his assist that led to Martinelli's finish for an excellent goal. Great touch, narrow target, what a goal ...........

Still time for Cole to take the limelight by the commentators says it all. Better to watch matches with sound muted quite frankly. 1-1 draw at the end but we almost won at the death. The Blues will give a tough time to all chasing the title. It's a young team, like ours used to be. Forest next, after that silly break. Let's go Gunners .........................

November 23, 2024: Comfortable win against high-flyers Forest. Anther goal or two would have taken us above Chelsea. With Havertz away, others would have to put the opposition defence in utter disarray. Sterling came into his own finally, creating the third goal for our youngest talent, Nwaneri. I only wish Jesus could have found his finishing touch. He has been formidable but not clinical.

European action next, followed by a visit to the East End at the Hammers thereafter. Remember how we scalped them last time? Keep at it Gunners!

November 27, 2024: Goal-fest in Portugal as five different players lined up to find the net and back to winning ways in the Champions League. Home fixture against Monaco in December, which should strenghten our advance directly to the next stage of the competition. Hopefully the Gunners will take this form to the London Stadium over the weekend against West Ham and pick up on the challange for the Premier League .... COYG
